There are many potential uses of AR/VR in helping to preserve archaeological resources. It is possible that developing a market for AR archaeological objects to replace actual authentic items may reduce the demand for them, thus decreasing the destruction involved in their acquisition.
As evidenced by a recent retail store incident, "antiquities" continues to be an attractive element in interior decor. With the advent of widespread acceptance of AR, it will be possible to access AR reproductions that can be 'placed' in a home, office, etc.
